faith.

Written by Daphne

As humans, we have several of major faults regarding both our mental and physical states. We are very imperfect beings, yet pride ourselves into believing we are on the top of what we call the animal kingdom. As animals ourselves, we essentially have no rights in branding these terms. Yet we still continue, due to our flaw of wishing to be opinionated.

Despite our constant searching of originality, most of us do not realize that humans as a species are all the same. We may have different appearances, but these are simply like the patterns of a butterfly or a marking of a bird. All of our personalities develop mainly in our environment; personalities are just the way we adapt. If we were to be born on a white slate of land and raised by a group or government, we would all potentially be the same besides our exterior appearance. Our so called personalities sway depending on our current emotions. Unlike most animals, we have a range of emotions due to our brain capacity, while animals have none at all. They react mainly by instinct. Humans, do not. We react by thinking, which is something we call intelligence.

This intelligence has acted out on several occasions as a double edged sword. Through these many years of development and education, we have reached a point where we have run out of resources for research. In search of material, we have done many things that have crossed a certain line of human sanity and capabilities. Our minds have evolved so much that we do not know what to do with our own knowledge. With this, we have not only ended up harming ourselves but also the planet we habitat on, the animals and the plants that we share our habitat with.We have endangered them for the sake of filling in our own cravings.

That is why we are always hungry. Hungry for things that are out of our reach, to the point that we cannot control ourselves. We hunger for what we consider 'love', we hunger for ownership, we hunger to belong. Let us not forget that we will never be able to satisfy ourselves because of our fault. This is why humans are a risk, why we are a poison to the whole system on this planet.

If extraterrestrial beings saw us, they would laugh.
