My Halloween Non-Adventure

About time I take out the Photoshop skills and apply them to my images. Not really. Here's a 4-sided Halloween stamp I found in my house.

I said that I would write about my Halloween so here I go. Let's start with the trick-or-treating, shall we? To be honest, I was kinda disappointed in my haul this year. Probably because I dropped by 50% from last years lol. I wonder if it's because I didn't go with my brother ._. . I got around 60-something candies and I'm satisfied with it except for the fact that I have 7 packets of Life brand swedish berries and NO FREAKIN' REESE'S CUPS. FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUU--!! Last year I went home to devour all of my treasure but this the bag is still as it was when I came home yesterday, just sitting by my door. Losing my child spirit ;_;.

Tried out many paints to get the right colour ;_;.

That's about it with my halloween non-adventure. I forgot to bring my camera on the way to our actual trick-or-treating, so that means I only have pics before and after. I actually have a picture of myself with the full costume I went out in, but it's on my sister's camera and that means I'll never get it. This just about concludes what happened on my Halloween. How Much Do We Know About Our Holidays?

So I've decided on a semi-permanent sorta timing for my posts. WEEKENDS ONLY. As you can see, I'm a student who doesn't like to do shit until it's due. Which leaves me panicking about finishing things on weekday nights. THUS! I shall carry on with weekend posts unless I'm dying to talk about something (WILL NEVER HAPPEN).

Here's my music intro that I really haven't done in the longest time EVAR.

Today's song is.. INDIE ROCK..!

 Sort of indie? I'll stop with the rock soon lol :P. Just, gimme some time to transition back into jazz LOLOL. The band is Ling Tosite Sigure (凛として時雨) and the song is called "A 7days Wonder". This band is one of my top 10 favourites. Seriously. GREAT STUFF!! From their melodic guitar solos to the bass and it's awesome orange tone to some of the most detailed drumming I've seen in a while, I can always count on these guys to release a great record. Not to mention the fact that they're a three-person band (sort of rare nowadays, eh?) with crazy shit vocals that break the LIMIT haha.


Now that I'm done with that and my lack of posts explanation. I'm gonna get on with other stuff that occupied me this week. By the time I finish this post and publish it, it WILL be Halloween! I have a lot of questions I'd like to ask wiki about Halloween, so I might as well share them with you. With my own interpreted answer that is..


First of all, WTF is Halloween?! 
From what I found. Some of Halloween was part of the Roman's feast for the harvest goddess, also of the festival of the dead, and a Celtic holiday celebrating the end of summer. Basically, Halloween has a lot less to do with the shit USA decides to pour into our brains. It was originally like a Thanksgiving holiday plus some dead people celebrations.Sort of like the mid-autumn festival us CHINESE have where we eat shit and be HAPPY (+THE DEAD PEOPLE THAT IS..)


So what does trick-or-treating have to do with this?
We go house to house just to beg for food. Ridiculous, but I've been doing it every year since I was 11 to this date... Trick-or-treating originally had a meaning similar to door-to-door Christmas caroling (Both are extremely one-sided if you ask me). Trick-or-treating's origins date back to this late-medieval practice where you made cakes to..celebrate for deceased souls. UM. LOL <insert bad pun about deathdate parties and cakes>. Basically poor people would go door to door receiving food in return of prayers for the dead.

Hilarious enough, the name for Halloween comes from the night before All Hallows Day. WHAT'S WITH ALL THIS BLASPHEMY THEN?! Along the way with these traditions, little things like carved turnips for soulling has been changed to jack-o-lanterns (bastardization of tradition) and evil occult things and mythical monsters have made their way into this holiday. 


I'm going to stuff all the things I can here today because I know since I'm going trick-or-treating sunday night, I'll come home late and have no more energy to post pics or write walls of text like today lol. So I can't guarantee that I will post pictures of my Halloween adventures tomorrow night either. I shall fit in the stuff that I've been doing today here on:
So I've been making a paper mache mask for Halloween these past days. Here's my progress. If you wanna know where I got the main idea on how to make it here's a video. Please notice that I DIDN'T follow any of the rules..So I don't know why I'm linking it, it's just cool, watch it for mask ideas. It depends on the mask's shape afterall.

I have made my paste and applied a few layers of newspaper on a balloon. Anyone else tried this before? I remember doing this for some sort of school project..

The next morning I put white paper on it! :D YAY

The coolest part about making a mask with a balloon:

Popping the balloon and watching it deflate in your paper mache bowl lol.

Finished base of my mask. After this I painted a coat of white paint and I'll leave the mask up to your imagination. Will eventually put up pics though :P.

After that I made custard with my sister. Yes, custard. After you work on paper mache you get hungry so you have to make sweet food. 

I got the recipe from this book I borrowed at the library. I LOVE LIBRARY COOK BOOKS, SO MANY PICS I SO HAPPY. ^O^

Cornstarch+milk. I really like those measuring spoons.

VOILA. Mix that shit up and you get custard. This was after the straining process and I didn't try eating it yet. I..I don't know if we did it right.

 This just about ends my post. A little bit of everything today. No rounded bits, or cut outs of lame school talks. I HATE POSTING ABOUT SCHOOL. No raging either :). Just a heads up about events to blog that are coming up. This Wednesday Canada is having it's national take your kids to work day. I will probably blog and post pics about that one if I have minimal amounts of homework. Well, with this, I bid farewell with my end pic.

Hello world! This post has been postponed 3 times in a row.. Why? SLEEP. Sleep is a good thing. Something that everyone has a problem with (wai so picky). I have to say that in the beginning (when that is exactly I don't know..) I thought that sleep was bad. Basically, when you sleep you're missing out on everything in the world. You miss so many things when you're asleep! As an exaggeration I shall use the example of comas. So you fall into a coma you wake up 30 years later (EG.). Your daughter is married, has kids, your wife has left you, and the official WW3 has started. HAHAHA! And on top of that, whenever you ask people "what's this? How'd this happen? Wtf is goin' on", they'll all be like, "LOL DUDE, IT HAPPENED LIKE 3 YEARS AGO, DON'T U REMEMBER?" And you'll have to remind them that you were in a coma for 30 years. On the other hand, sleep is something that people are always complaining about at school, work, etc. We all want more of it!!
Holy shit. I mean, I took a nap at 8PM yesterday, expecting my alarm clock to start beeping a few minutes later and woke up at 4AM. NO ONE EVEN BOTHERED TO TELL ME IT WAS DINNER. WHAT THE FF--!!??? I woke up and was really confused so I decided to shut off my computer and go back to sleep.

End of story, really. 

I originally intended to talk about the past few days I haven't posted since I'd come home late because of the newspaper club (/laziness)! Also because I talked about it at the end of my last post...I also want to insert a song around here.. I have too many things to say because I didn't get to talk about them yesterday (or the day before), please bear with me :)?

Back to the topic of the newspaper club and I'll even quote myself from the last post:

"I'm going to stay after school tomorrow to fold copies of the newspaper club's first issue! I'm excited! :D"

THERE WE GO. So the next day I went to the meeting after school to find.. 3 other people. One other came a bit later too. So basically there was no folding done because the copies weren't printed XD. I was told then that they spent the whole after school the last day formatting psd files to jpg LOL. That day we just continued with it. I sort of got to know the 4 people I was working with in the CAD lab. Everyone was easy to get along with despite our age differences.. I think they were all in grade 11 lol. I remember this one bit where we were trying to edit this comic strip so the text was readable (I will not reveal the name of the comic for reasons next..) and we ended up altering it A LOT. Our leader even emailed the creator to tell them that we were using the strip lol. Hope no one in our school finds out that we decided to black out text and sort of reword some bits..We almost decided to invert the colours LOL. On Friday we did the copying and folding. I'd never actually visited the copy room, it's pretty big... I'm quite satisfied to go to 2 of our school's copy rooms within the beginning of the school year(loserish..really.) Anyways, we got everything done on Friday and we'll distribute it on Monday! I'm really looking forward to it because I haven't even read the whole thing myself, just snippets :). Ok. I'm done.
